Megan M. Gutierrez, M.Ed. enters her 5th season with the Bulldogs as the Head Field Hockey Coach at Dean College. Gutierrez also fulfills roles at Dean as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Athletics, Assistant Sports Information Director, adjunct professor, and NCAA Field Hockey Region One Advisory Committee / Site Representative.
Over the past four seasons, Gutierrez has made incredible growth for her Field Hockey program, bringing a grassroots program to the championship stage. Since her start in 2022, she has brought in a total of 33 recruited student-athletes across 12 different states. In 2024, she brought the bulldogs to the program's first playoff berth this past fall, landing the 8th seed in the GNAC tournament. In the same season, first-year Emily Yazzetti took home GNAC 2nd team all-conference.
Coach Gutierrez turned the 2025 season into the most historic year in the program's history. The team finished with a regular season record of 13-7, including a 9-1 record within the GNAC. Their finish earned them the conference's top seed in the postseason tournament. In the playoffs, the Bulldogs trounced defeated both Rivier University and New England College, earning their first championship appearance in program history.
Coach Gutierrez's team didn't take their foot off the gas, defeating Colby-Sawyer College 3-1 for the first GNAC Championship in Dean Athletics history. They also earned a bid into the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament, facing Tufts University on national television.
For her incredible work and progress since joining Dean, Coach Gutierrez was named to the 2026 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Under 30 Coaching Class. Other notable inductees included Erin Matson of the University of North Carolina and Maggie Sohns of Dickinson College. Coach Gutierrez was also named the GNAC's 2026 Field Hockey Coach of the Year.
With a Master’s in Education from Albright College and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, Megan brings a well-rounded, student-centered approach to her leadership. She has a demonstrated track record of recruiting and developing high-performing student-athletes, ensuring academic eligibility, and fostering personal growth through leadership programming.
Megan's coaching career includes positions at Albright College, Cedar Crest College, and a wide array of field hockey clubs and camps across the country. She is actively involved in NCAA governance and national coaching organizations, serving on multiple committees, including the NFHCA All-Region Committee and the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee for Division III Field Hockey. In the spring of 2025, she was selected to go to the NCAA national office to represent Dean College at the 2025 NCAA Inclusion Forum.
Her professional credentials include certifications in leadership facilitation, bystander intervention, and field hockey coaching. Megan is also a recipient of the Women Leaders in College Sports Symposium Scholarship and multiple athletic honors from her time as a collegiate athlete.
Known for her collaborative spirit and passion for mentoring, Gutierrez continues to advocate for student-athletes on and off the field, blending athletics, academics, and leadership into a transformative collegiate experience.
