Cy Butler, CSCS enters his second academic year as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. He was brought aboard in the spring of 2025.
In his role, Coach Butler oversees the strength strategy for all 17 athletic programs within the department. His detailed approaches to nutritional management, weight-lighting, and post-game treatment are key to the success of all Dean student-athletes.
Prior to Dean, Butler most recently served as the Coordinator of Recreation and Fitness Programs at Rhode Island College. He also served as an adjunct professor, teaching courses engaged in providing proper weight etiquette and strength routines. He also served as the Performance and Development Coordinator for the Rhode Island Rockets for six seasons.
In addition to having extensive experience in strength & conditioning, Butler has also coached football at a high level. He most recently served as an Offensive Quality Control Coach for Division I Bryant University during the 2021-22 season.
Coach Butler is a native of Boston, Massachusetts. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of Rhode Island.
