Tammy Silveira

Tammy Silveira, who spent four years as an assistant coach, was named the softball head coach at Dean College in August 2020.

An accomplished student-athlete in her own right, Silveira won a state championship in high school at New Bedford before going on to star at Bridgewater State. While with the Bears, Silveira helped guide them to four straight Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) titles and 90 wins in four years. Individually, Silveira still ranks first on the BSU all-time walks list (73) and fourth in career batting average (.389).

In addition to her roles at Dean, Silveira is the general manager and part owner of the New Bedford Bay Sox, a member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).

A professor in the College's School of Business where she teaches course in the sport management program, Silveira will take over a softball program that looked poised to take off prior to the coronavirus pandemic halting their 2020 season.

A 1993 graduate of Bridgewater State University where she was named the school's female athlete of the year in 1992, Silveira went on to earn her master's degree in sports leadership in 2016.
