Austin McCreary '18

Former standout golfer Austin McCreary '18 was named the men's and women's head golf coach at Dean College in August of 2020.

McCreary spent three seasons on the links for the Bulldogs playing for legendary coach Jay Leiendecker – the person he is replacing as head coach.

He never strayed far from the program, serving as an assistant coach since graduation, working closely with Leiendecker as the program continued its growth.

He will be responsible for all aspects of both programs, including student-athlete recruitment and retention, student-athlete development, alumnae engagement, practice organization as well as other coaching related duties.

McCreary is arguably the most decorated golfer in school history, winning four individual tournament titles alone during his senior campaign. He was named second-team all-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) in 2018, was the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 21 individual medalist as a freshman in 2015 then followed that up with a second-place individual as a sophomore in 2016.

A team captain with the Bulldogs, McCreary was a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success as well as a Dean College student ambassador.

The owner of GolfX – an indoor golfing facility in Franklin – McCreary graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration and management and then went on to earn a master's of science in organizational development and executive leadership from Boston College in 2019.
