NEWTON, Mass. – The Dean College softball team fell in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader with Lasell University on Saturday afternoon by scores of 5-2 and 4-3, respectively. With the pair of losses, the Bulldogs dropped to 6-13 on the year (3-4 GNAC), while the lasers improved to 7-12 (3-5 GNAC).

GAME ONE: Lasell University 5, Dean College 2
-The Lasers were the first to score, snagging four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Adreanna Ventullo brought home an RBI single, followed by a three-run homer from Shyanne Raccio.
-After a scoreless second, the Bulldogs found the box score in the top of the third. Nina Ostafin (West Hartford, Conn.) produced an RBI single, scoring Maddy Barrette (Hope Valley, R.I.).
-Dean scored again in the following inning. This time, Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, Mass.) laced the RBI single to score Lian Silva (New Britain, Conn.). Ramos led the Dean offense in game one with a 2-3 performance at the plate.
-Lasell matched Dean in the fourth inning, scoring their fifth and final run of the game on an RBI single from Emily Stilwell.
-Raccio's pitching closed down the Bulldogs' attack in the final frames, allowing Lasell to take the 5-2 final score.

GAME TWO: Lasell University 4, Dean College 3
-Both sides were scoreless through the first three innings of play. Natalie Hayes (Brewster, N.Y.) shined, allowing just two runs over the course of six frames.
-However, Lasell broke through in the fourth. Emma Tarleton brought in a run on a sacrifice flyout, making it 1-0 in favor of the home team.
-The cardinal & white responded in the fifth, grabbing a pair of runs from a single by Emily Kilpatrick (Marion, Mass.). Dean now held its first lead of the doubleheader.
-The Lasers were quick to even the score, securing an RBI double from Adreanna Ventullo. It was now 2-2 going into the sixth.
Once again, Dean took a crucial lead in the top half. Leah Chamberlain (Burlington, Vt.) reached on an error at third base, allowing Ashlee Mastrodomenico (Middleboro, Mass.) to score. After another scoreless frame from Hayes, Dean held a 3-2 going into the final inning.
-The Bulldogs were unable to score in the seventh, giving themselves a one-run cushion in the bottom half. Alas. the cushion proved to be too little: Lasell notched three hits off reliever Bryce Degasparre (Attleboro, Mass.), allowing them to tie the game and eventually walk it off. They took the 4-2 win on an RBI double by Ashlyn McCampbell.
