Bulldogs Fall in Doubleheader at Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. – April 13, 2024 – The Dean College softball team dropped both ends of a Saturday Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division doubleheader at Lasell. The Lasers took game one 10-0 in five innings and then game two 2-0.

Dean (0-16, 0-6 GNAC South) returns home on Sunday for a twin bill against Norwich beginning at noon. Lasell improves to 13-8 overall and 3-1 in the GNAC South.

GAME ONE – Lasell 10, Dean 0 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Leah Chamberlain (Burlington, Vt.) recorded both of Dean's hits in game one.

Lasell was led by Katie Hopkins who went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, three runs and a home run. Brianna Gendreau also knocked in three runs on a couple of hits.

Eryn Sheeley earned the win for the Lasers with 11 strikeouts in five innings.

Lasell scored four times in the first and added four more in the third. Hopkins and Sheeley each knocked in a run in the fourth for the 10-0 lead.

GAME TWO – Lasell 2, Dean 0

Lasell plated a run in the first frame when Emily Rondeau singled home Gendreau.

In the third inning, Hopkins belted her second solo home run of the afternoon to put Lasell on top 2-0.

Sophomore Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, Mass.), first-year Alyssa Ribarovski (Sydney, Australia) and sophomore Liana Silva (New Britain, Conn.) each had a hit for the Bulldogs.

Junior Jessica Stewart (Banks, Ore.) pitched well in the loss with a complete game. She struck out three and gave up two runs.

Abigail Fortin tossed a complete game shutout for the Lasers with four strikeouts.
