BOSTON, Mass. – April 27, 2023 - The Dean College softball team was swept by Emmanuel in a Thursday night doubleheader. The Saints won game one 10-0 (5 inn.) and game two 13-0 (5 inn.).
Dean (5-28-1) is slated to host Elms on Saturday for a conference doubleheader.
GAME ONE: Emmanuel 10, Dean 0 (5 inn.)
Emmanuel put two runs up in the first on a long ball by Maegan Amsler.
The Saints took an 8-0 lead in the third with five runs on four hits. Taylor Chelak knocked in a pair with a single up the middle.
In the fourth inning, the home team scored three more times for the eventual final of 10-0. Amsler had an RBI double and then scored, along with Chelak, on a Madison Marks two-run double to the gap.
First-year
Sydnee Ramos (New Bedford, Mass.) had two of the Bulldogs' three hits in the game, including a double. Senior
Alex Marie (Danvers, Mass.) had the other hit.
Tianna Dawe earned the win with a complete game, 3-hit shutout with seven strikeouts.
GAME TWO: Emmanuel 13, Dean 0 (5 inn.)
A Mark RBI double in the second gave the Saints an early lead.
Emmanuel added five runs in the third, including another RBI double from Mark.
The Saints then used the long ball in the fourth inning to help put seven runs on the board and take a 13-0 lead. Olivia Conti and Julyanne Pacheco each hit solo home runs, while Emely Rodriguez belted a grand slam.
Dean junior
Jilian Glynn (Londonderry, N.H.) led the team with a couple of hits. Marie added another knock to her day.
Madison Hinkley got the win with 5 IP, 4 H, 4 BB and 5 K.
