STANDISH, Maine – November 4, 2023 - The Dean College women's cross country team finished ninth at Saturday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship hosted by Saint Joseph's (Maine).
The Bulldogs placed ninth for the third year in a row, finishing ahead of their 11th place selection in the pre-championship poll on Friday. Dean collected 272 points.
RESULTS
Sophomore 
Kokoro Okada (Japan) set the pace for Dean with a time of 37:16.1 on the 6k course for a 61st place finish.  
Junior co-captain 
Emma Cotsonas (Jamestown, R.I.) finished 66th with a time of 38:56.8.   
Sophomore 
Isabella Nitschke (Watertown, Mass.) and junior 
Tanya Spengler (Vienna, Va.) finished after each other. Nitschke was in 68th at 40:46.9, while Spengler placed 69th in 41:06.8.
Sophomore 
Violet Smith (Madison, N.J.) was the fifth Bulldog finisher in 72nd at 50:03.1.
Sophomore 
Helen Sanford (Deerfield, Mass.) was next in 73rd with a time of 50:06.7.
Sophomore 
Cathy Wong (Brighton, Mass.) rounded out the Dean competitors in 75th crossing the finish line in 56:58.2.
Members of the team will compete at the NCAA East Regional next weekend.
