NECC Women's Volleyball Tournament Preview - First Round

POSTSEASON PARTY
For the second straight season, Dean College face Elms College in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's volleyball tournament, which begins play on Tuesday, November 5 in Chicopee.

WAITING IN THE WINGS
The sixth-seeded Bulldogs (7-18) will visit the third-seeded Blazers (15-9) with a berth in the conference semifinals on the line. The winner will travel to second-seeded New England College on Friday night at 7:00 PM.

FAMILIAR FOES
These two teams actually played last Wednesday in Dean's regular season finale. Elms won the match, 3-0, highlighted by .519 hitting in the first set. Tuesday's contest will mark the fourth time the two teams have met in the last two seasons.

TWO-SPORT STAR
Melanie Rios-Nevarez (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) not only shines on the volleyball court, but is also a standout on the softball field. A .335 career hitter with five career homeruns and 39 RBI, she had 11 games last season with two hits or more.

KAIT THE GREAT
Bulldog senior Kait Anderson (Clinton, Conn.) will be making her 86th appearance in a Dean uniform in the NECC Tournament contest. She is closing in on 800 career kills and has already topped the 500 dig plateau.
