Host Bay Path jumped out to a 10-4 halftime lead and then held on to push past Dean College, 16-11, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.
Both Samantha Rubacha and Kaylee Herring each registered five goals for the Wildcats, while Makayla Fisher (Irvington, N.J.) totaled four goals and an assist for the Bulldogs.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Bay Path got their offense going early on by getting three goals in the game's first five minutes, including a pair from Herring.
Dean answered back with Lauryn Wilks (Hartford, Conn.) but Rubacha netted two in a row to make the score 5-1.
Herring got two more goals in a four goal spurt before Wilks stopped the scoring spree and making the score, 9-4.
Dean inched closer as the second half began on tallies from Fisher and Wilks and after a score from Bianca Romero, the Bulldogs got as close as they would all afternoon as they got a trio of scores from Fisher, Saunders and Wilks.
Things got even tighter as Fisher found the back of the net twice in a four-minute span to close the gap to 13-11 with a little more than eight minutes to go.
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, they would not score again and Rubacha and Herring combined for the final three goals.
Jamaya Cleveland (Greensboro, Ga.) made 15 saves in net for Dean.
