THE LEAD:
Despite a serious second half rally, the Dean College Bulldogs were upended 68-55 by the visiting Connecticut College Camels in the championship game of the 2019 Bulldog Tip-Off Tournament in Franklin, Mass. on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Dean trailed by 14 (32-18) at halftime before opening the third period on fire.  The Bulldogs scored back-to-back hoops on their first two possessions, on layupa from Ajerah Sidbury (Wilmington, N.C.) and Arielle Harrell (Stockton, Calif.).  After a steal from Makayla Rudder (Springfield, Mass.) Harrell drilled a three pointer in transition to cut the deficit to seven and prompt a Connecticut College timeout.

Out of the timeout, the Camels responded with a Dana Muckstadt layup, but Dean continued to control play.  The Bulldogs hit two more three pointers, this time from Sitaara Muhammad (Brockton, Mass.) and Sadie Homer (North Easton, Mass.) to cut the deficit to 34-31 with only three minutes gone by in the period.

The Camels wrestled control back over the next four minutes, extending their lead to 10 on a layup in transition from Claire Gulbin with three minutes left in the third and extending the lead to 12 as play entered the final quarter.

The Bulldogs cut the lead to five on a pair of Rudder free throws with seven minutes left, and Homer's second triple of the game moments later dashed the deficit to three.

Gulbin and Muckstadt responded with back to back buckets to ease the Bulldog momentum and Connecticut College was able to hold on for the 68-55 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dean was paced by Homer's 15 points on 5-14 shooting. Rudder scored 13 and added 12 boards while Alexah Potter (East Hartford, Conn.) finished with ten points off the bench.
