THE LEAD:
Babba Jaden scored a pair of goals and visiting Elms College posted a crucial 3-2 win over Dean College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.

The win for the Blazers, pushes them up the conference standings and gives them the tiebreaker over the Bulldogs as the two teams jockey for postseason tournament playoff positioning.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elms got on the board when Alex Eagan connected with Jaden for his ninth marker of the season at 16:32.

Incredibly, things stayed that way as Dean had a pair of scoring chances from Paulo Correia (Brockton, Mass.) go by the wayside. First, his penalty kick was turned aside by a sprawling Collin Liedke in the 25th minute and then he saw his shot in the 31st minute bang off the crossbar.

The Bulldogs finally broke through in the 46th minute when Davonn Smith (Lowell, Mass.) scooped up a loose ball at the top of the box and fed Kyle Lameiras (Attleboro, Mass.) for the game tying goal just 39 seconds into the second half.

Elms jumped back in front when Jose Ulloa converted a penalty kick at 52:05 for his third score of the year.

They added another when the Blazers' connection of Egan and Jaden hooked up again for Jaden's second of the day.

Dean made the game interesting when Luke Palmer (Windsor Locks, Conn.) found a rolling ball free inside the box and then slipped his first collegiate tally past Liedke at 87:51.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Elms held a slight 19-14 edge in shots, while Bryce Antoch (Cranston, R.I.) made five saves for the Bulldogs.

UP NEXT:
Dean is back in action next Wednesday for their final regular season contest when they host Mitchell College at 3:00 PM.
