THE LEAD:
Visiting Elms College scored nine second half goals and broke open a close game on their way to an 11-0 win over Dean College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey action on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs' lone senior, Wynter Morin (Belfast, Maine), playing in her final home contest, was honored for her contributions to the program in a pregame ceremony.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elms wasted very little time getting on the board in the first quarter as Madison Gabel found the back of the cage twice in the first seven minutes – including a score just 27 seconds into the game.

Dean's defense stiffened, however, and held the Blazers off the board until a flurry of goals in the third quarter put the game out of reach.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Gabel finished with the two aforementioned goals and two assists, while Ellie Serra (three goals, two assists) and Carissa Ramirez (three goals, one assist) each had strong performances.

Dean, meanwhile, got a pair of defensive saves from Zoe Coleman (Warwick, R.I.) and 15 stops from goaltender Alexis Masse (Woonsocket, R.I.).

UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs are on the road for their final two games of the season beginning with Saturday's tilt at Thomas College.
