Johnson & Wales standout Jillian Miele scored four consecutive goals spanning the second and third quarters to break open a close contest and send the visiting Wildcats to a 7-0 win over Dean College in non-league field hockey action on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Kerrianne Fagan got JWU on the board less than two minutes into the contest and that lead doubled almost immediately when Hailey Schneider rattled the back of the cage at the 3:02 mark.
That's when Miele went on her scoring tear, getting one before the half ended and then three straight in the third quarter to push the Wildcats out to a 6-0 advantage.
JWU's other goal came courtesy of Morgan LeDuc, who get help from Mackenzie Wolf late in the third.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Johnson & Wales held commanding scoreboard differences in shots (33-0) and penalty corners (13-0), while Alexis Masse (Woonsocket, R.I.) made nine saves for the Bulldogs, including stopping a penalty shot midway through the third quarter. Kat Conforti (Warwick, R.I.) did make a defensive save for Dean.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they host Manhattanville at 3:30 PM.
