Mansfield, Mass. – After a record-setting performance under center, Dean College sophomore signal caller Terrell Watts (New Haven, Conn.) has been named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Offensive Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday.
It marks the second straight week and the sixth time in his standout career that he has received a weekly honor from the conference.
In Saturday's thrilling win over Alfred State, Watts was 18-for-29 for 260 yards and a school-record seven touchdowns as the Bulldogs won their fourth straight game, outlasting the Pioneers, 50-46.
Watts threw touchdown passes of four, five, 11, 20, 23, 33 and 59 yards – five of which went to Errol Breaux (Marietta, Ga.) and two to Quintus Reid (New Haven, Conn.). The seven scoring strikes are tied for the third-most in Division III this season behind only Wyatt Smith of Linfield College (8) and Evan Lewandowski of Wisconsin-La Crosse (9).
During the Bulldogs four-game winning streak, Watts has been outstanding, completing 71 percent of his passes for 972 yards to go along with 16 touchdowns and just one interception and a passer efficiency rating of 204.5.
Overall, Watts leads the ECFC in completions (152), completion percentage (61.5), touchdown passes (25), passing yards (2,012) and passing efficiency (157.7). He even ranks fourth in the conference in rushing touchdowns (4).
Watts and the Bulldogs return to action on Saturday with their final regular season contest against Castleton University at 12:00 PM.
