WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Dean College women's lacrosse team was defeated by the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) by a final score of 23-1 on Tuesday evening. With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss, Dean drops to 3-11 (3-8 GNAC), while the Blue Jays improved to 9-5 (8-2 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-The Blue Jays scorched in a large lead, scoring over ten goals through the first quarter. However, Dean's goalkeeper
Shea Cassani (Belgrade, Maine) stayed vigilant. The junior made four saves to prevent further damage.
-The Bulldogs scored their first goal of the game in the second quarter. First-year
Bella McQuade (North Attleboro, Mass.) potted an unassisted goal to get Dean on the board.
-Senior
Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) also registered a shot towards the crease but missed just wide.
-USJ (Conn.) shut out Dean in the second half, scoring nine more goals. Reagan Buscetto scored once again, capping off an eleven-point performance.
-Despite not scoring, three Bulldogs registered shots in the third quarter, Stockwell found another chance, accompanied by shots from
Ali Murphy (Middleboro, Mass.) and
Ailey Pequita (Enfield, Conn.)
-Senior
Alisha Caldeira (West Bridgewater, Mass.) also returned to action against the Blue Jays. The midfielder registered a shot, two draw controls, and two ground balls in her comeback.
-After a strong offensive performance, USJ took the game by a final score of 23-1.
