FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College women's lacrosse team was upended on Saturday afternoon, falling to Emmanuel College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action by a final score of 17-3. With the loss, Dean drops to 3-10 (3-7 GNAC), while the Saints improved to 10-4 overall (9-1 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-The Saints were the first team to find the box score. Emilia Ferraro netted a goal off an assist by Maddie McCulloch, making it 1-0.
-However, Dean responded just over two minutes later.
Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, Pa.) found the back of the net, unassisted, to tie the game at one.
-Despite a quick tie, the Saints returned to the attack. They scored nearly a dozen unanswered goals to put themselves up 12-1 at the start of the second quarter.
-Dean gave themselves a chance to respond in the early moments of the second.
Lesly Trapero (North Providence, R.I.) was given a free position shot, but her effort on goal was blocked.
-The Saints led at halftime by the same score of 12-1.
-The Bulldogs grabbed two goals in the third quarter from
Ali Murphy (Middleboro, Mass.) and
Caroline Ramsey (Shreveport, La.). Both goals were man-up tallies.
-However, Emmanuel scored five more times throughout the course of the second half to take the game by a final score of 17-3.
