Franklin, Mass. – A huge weekend is on tap for Dean College athletics, as both the men's and women's basketball teams open up their 2019-20 season at home and football will play its final regular season game of the year with a chance to finish the conference slate undefeated on Saturday.

The weekend actually kicks off on Friday afternoon when the men's basketball team welcomes Framingham State to Pieri Gymnasium for a 5:00 PM tipoff. Dean returns a wealth of talent to the fold, headlined by two-time USCAA All-American Jordan Booker. He finished 25th in the country in scoring (22.7) a season ago and has already eclipsed the elusive 1,000 point barrier.

Men's basketball will actually play three games (two home, one away) over the next five days with a road trip to the University of New England slated for Sunday and a home contest against Emmanuel College on the docket for Tuesday at 6:00 PM.

Winners of four straight games, the football team has a chance to complete an undefeated season inside the ECFC when they face off against Castleton University on Saturday at noon. Prior to the start of the game, the program will honor its ten seniors participating in their final home contest.

With quarterback Terrell Watts (2,012 passing yards, 29 total TDs) and wide receiver Errol Breaux (500 receiving yards, 14 total touchdowns) leading the way offensively and defensive stalwarts Shannon Moxey and Gene Baisden, Jr. anchoring the defense, the Bulldogs are looking to secure their second straight winning season.

Once football concludes on Saturday, race up to Pieri for the women's basketball season opener at 4:00 PM against Westfield State. Back for her second season at the helm, Alycia Gervais has brought in a group of talented newcomers to pair with a stellar group of returners headlined by Makayla Rudder. A USCAA Second-Team All-American in 2018-19, Rudder finished second in the NECC in scoring (18.1 points per game) and sixth in rebounding (9.8). In their 12 wins a season ago, she averaged 21.7 points and 10.7 rebounds.
