The Dean College Bulldogs could not build on the momentum of Saturday's win, falling to Curry College 3-0 on Wednesday at Katz Gymnasium in Milton, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Curry jumped on the visiting Bulldogs right away, racing to a 7-1 lead in the opening minutes of the first frame. Dean responded with three straight points, highlighted by kills from Kait Anderson (Clinton, Conn.) and Miranda Marquez (San Pedro, Calilf.) to trim the deficit to 7-4, but Curry scored the next six points to stretch their lead to 13-4, en route to a 25-10 opening set victory.
Curry scored the first four points of set two to take an early lead, but Dean charged back scoring six of the next nine points to cut the lead to 7-6. Curry exploded from there, scoring 13 of the next 15 points to take a stranglehold on the set at 21-8. Dean mounted a late comeback, scoring six of the last ten points, but the Colonels held on for a 25-14 win.
Set three was tied multiple times, including at 18 after the Bulldogs scored six out of seven points, but Curry outlasted the Cardinal and White, finishing the match with a service ace for the 25-23 set win.
