Dean College won for their fourth time in their last five times out as the host Bulldogs posted a convincing 3-0 win over Mitchell College on Tuesday night in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's volleyball action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a close opening set where Dean held on for 25-23 victory, the Bulldogs rolled to a 25-13 win in the second set and then completed the match with a 25-18 set sealing triumph.
The Bulldogs have now slid into sole possession of seventh place in the league standings in advance of their final two matches this season later this week. Eight teams advance to the conference tournament, which begins next Tuesday at the home of the highest seed.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Kait Anderson (Clinton, Conn.) totaled a match-high 11 kills to go along with nine digs for Dean, while Samantha Trullo (Chelmsford, Mass.) recorded a match-best 17 digs and Melanie Rios-Nevarez (Alta Vega, Puerto Rico) chipped in with five kills, six assists and ten digs.
Prior to the start of the match, Trullo and Paola Gonzalez (Southbridge, Mass.) were honored for their commitment to the program as both are expected to graduate in the spring.
Dean is back in action on Thursday when they head to Elms College for key NECC matchup with the Blazers. First serve is slated for 7:00 PM.
