Playing in their final regular season home game, Southern Vermont scored a trio of goals in less than three minutes on their way to a convincing 5-0 win over Dean College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Already in front 1-0 after a Dani Biggers score in the 21st minute, the Mountaineers erupted for the game-changing three-goal outburst beginning in the 39th minute.
The first score came courtesy of a Melissa Mascari penalty kick at 38:23. That was followed by quick strike goals from Ally McNamee (39:51) and Juliena D'Alessio (41:00) to send Southern Vermont into halftime ahead 4-0.
McNamee tacked on the lone second half goal in the 67th minute when her shot banged off the bottom of the crossbar and across the goal line.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
McNamee was the star of the afternoon, finishing with two goals and an assist, while Mascari recorded her first goal of the season and had three saves in goal.
Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.) totaled eight saves in goal for the Bulldogs, who were outshot 23-7.
The Bulldogs will close out their season when they visit NECC rival Newbury College on Wednesday in a game to be played at Medford High School. First touch is slated for 3:00 PM.
