Bay Path University scored six straight goals midway through the second half and the visiting Wildcats spoiled senior day for Dean College, topping the Bulldogs, 13-6, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday morning.
Prior to the start of the game, Dean honored its four graduating seniors – Jamaya Cleveland (Greensboro, Ga.), Makayla Fisher (Irvington, N.J.), Nebiat Fesshaie (Melrose, Mass.) and Kayla Stockman (South Easton, Mass.).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bulldogs opened up the game putting the ball in the net almost immediately, with Lauryn Wilks (Hartford, Conn.) giving Dean a 1-0 lead less than 30 seconds into the game.
After Wilks scored again and put the Bulldogs in front 2-1, the Wildcats ran off three straight to jump ahead before settling for a 4-3 halftime edge after Genesis Johnson (Norwalk, Conn.) scored on a free position shot.
Bay Path opened the second half by scoring the first two goals of the half to extend their advantage, but Dean wouldn't go away as Wilks notched another.
The two teams traded goals and when Fisher scored with just under 19 minutes to go, the Bulldogs were with in striking distance at 7-5.
Unfortunately for the Dean, Bay Path went on their game-changing run, opening up an insurmountable lead.
Wilks finished with four goals and six groundballs to lead the Dean offense, while Joanna Feliciano ended with four goals for the Wildcats, while Megan McKenna added three of her own.
