Playing a majority of the contest in a driving rain, visiting Elms College raced out to a commanding 13-2 halftime lead and never looked back as the Blazers secured an 18-4 win over Dean College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon.

Elms had a trio of stellar performances headlined by a five-goal, two-assist showing from Vanessa Vuro.

Elms wasted little time getting on the board as Haley Roberts scored a just over a minute into the contest, sparking an eight goal outburst that included three goals from Haley Richard and two apiece from Vurno and Victoria-Lynn Smith.

The Bulldogs responded when Frantzleine Nherisson (Lowell, Mass.) went coast-to-coast for her fifth score of the year and that was followed up by a free position tally from Lauryn Wilks (Hartford, Conn.).

Smith continued her outstanding effort with two more goals before the half ended as the Blazers went into intermission ahead 13-2.

Vurno, Richard and Madison Crawford all found the back of the net in the first ten minutes of the half before back-to-back free position scores from Wilks and Makayla Fisher (Irvington, N.J.) ended the scoring for Dean on the afternoon.

In addition to Vurno, Richard and Smith each had four goals and an assist, while five others had a single goal for Elms.

Jamaya Cleveland (Greensboro, Ga.) made seven saves between the pipes for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday when they visit Newbury for a 1:00 p.m.
