Marshfield, Mass. – For the first time in her career, Dean College senior star Iindia Pina (Carver, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball player of the week it was announced on Monday.
In her lone contest of the week – a 77-67 victory on the road against Lesley – Pina ended with 27 points, six rebounds and a whopping nine steals.
Over her last six games, Pina is averaging 26.6 points per game and for the season has ten games with 20 points or more, including a career-high 31 in a loss at Newbury College in mid-January.
The win for Pina and the Bulldogs is their third in a row as they continue to fight for positioning in the upcoming NECC Tournament. Dean is now 9-11 overall and 7-6 in league play in advance of a busy week ahead.
Currently sitting alone in fifth place, the Bulldogs travel to first-place New England College on Tuesday before returning home to face Becker on Thursday, who is locked in a three-way tie with NEC and Mitchell College.
