Softball Drops Two Vs. Bay Path

FRANKLIN, Mass.- Dean College Softball finished up their regular season on Friday, dropping both games of a doubleheader against Bay Path at Longley Field.

The first game was a completion of a game started in March.  The Bulldogs led 7-6 when the game was halted in the fifth due to darkness, but Bay Path came back with a late rally on Friday to win 11-8.

A two run homer in the sixth and a two run single in the seventh from Lauren Vallee drove in four of the five runs Bay Path scored in the late innings.  Felicia Gaillardetz also had an RBI single while picking up the win on the mound.

Dean was led by Karissa Menzinger, with 3 RBI's and 2 hits.  She also pitched for the Bulldogs, going 4 innings and getting the loss.

The second game was controlled by the Wildcats from the start, enroute to a 10-4 win.  An eight run third inning was capped by a grand slam from Taylor Feraco and the Wildcats never looked back.

Dean tacked on three in the fifth to try to mount a comeback, but they could not overcome the slow start.  Melanie Rios Nevarez led Dean with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's.  Angelina Taylor got the loss for Dean, dropping to 7-7 on the year.

Dean finished the regular season 11-13.  They now await USCAA tournament selection results.
