Marshfield, Mass. – The men's volleyball team has been seeded No. 6 in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) postseason tournament it was announced by the conference office over the weekend.
The Bulldogs (6-21, 3-11 NECC) will travel to Dudley, Mass. to face third-seeded Nichols College (16-9, 10-4 NECC) on Tuesday evening. First serve is slated for 7:00 PM.
Dean was tied for the sixth and final spot with Southern Vermont, who they rallied to defeat, 3-2, back on March 25. But the Bulldogs earned the bid into postseason play after the conference's tie-breaking procedures were invoked and Dean had a stronger in-division strength of schedule.
The Bulldogs and Bison squared off twice during the regular season with Nichols sweeping the season series, most recently with their 3-0 win on Dean's Senior Night on April 4.
John Kauffman (Providence, R.I.) leads the Bulldog offensive attack, ranking tenth in the league in total kills (168), while Chadd Pelletier (Westbrook, Maine) is eighth in the conference in assists (290).
At the net, the Bulldogs have one of the league's premier blockers in Aaron Brody (Webster, Mass.). He leads the conference in block solos (17) and is fifth in total blocks (40).
The winner of Tuesday's match will advance to the league semifinals against second-seeded Endicott (23-6), the nation's No. 11 team, according to the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Poll.
