THE LEAD:
Winners of nine of their last ten matches, Dean College breezed to a convincing 3-0 win over Newbury College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball action on Tuesday afternoon.

The win for the Bulldogs was their fourth straight as they head into the final weekend of March sporting an 8-1 record in the month.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Dean faced little resistance from the Nighthawks as they raced out to an early 9-1 lead in the first set enroute to a 25-10 victory.

In the second, the Bulldogs used a mid-frame run that turned a small 10-6 lead into a 20-9 bulge as they settled for a 25-13 decision.

Newbury battled in the third set and when Trevor Thorne notched a kill, suddenly the set was all tied at 12-12. In the end, however, the Bulldogs proved to be too much as they ended the match on a kill from Joel Carmona (Lawrence, Mass.) and a block solo from Diondre Gomes (Fairhaven, Mass.).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Gomes led the offensive attack for the Bulldogs with 18 kills, while Carmona shined as well, totaling five kills and a match-best 16 digs.

Moussa Seck (Malden, Mass.) recorded five kills of his own, while Bobby Tetreault (Mattapoisett, Mass.) handed out 19 assists and had nine digs.

UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs are slated to be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Bennington, Vt. for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with Southern Vermont.
