Attleboro, Mass. – Dean College star freshman Diondre Gomes (Fairhaven, Mass.) has been named both Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for the second time this season it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league office.
Gomes, who snagged both of the honors back on February 12, collects them again after a stellar week that saw him lead the Bulldogs to three straight victories – including a pair of five set thrillers.
For the week, he averaged 4.54 kills per set on .323 hitting, to go along with 2.08 digs per set.
In a 3-0 win over Lesley, Gomes finished with 15 kills on .737 hitting.
Then in a 3-2 win over Mount Ida, he hammered down 21 kills to go with 10 digs.
He capped off the week with a career-best 23 kills and 15 digs in a 3-2 win over Newbury.
Gomes and the Bulldogs, who have surged to 8-7 following their fourth straight victory on Monday evening, are off until Thursday, March 15 when they visit Eastern Nazarene.
