THE LEAD:
Warren Execus
had his hand in pair of second half goals and visiting Newbury College rallied for a 3-2 win over Dean College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

The match looked destined for overtime until Execus teamed up with Richard Silva on a give-and-go as they charged in on Bulldog keeper Devin Moore (Walpole, Mass.). Execus delivered a pass that Silva was able to slip past Moore for the game-winning tally at 87:09.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Dean actually got the scoring started when Larry Gbomina (Providence, R.I.) outworked a Nighthawk defender up the right side and then sent a ball across the box that Davonn Smith (Lawrence, Mass.) able to head home for his team-leading sixth strike of the season just 43 seconds into the second half.

The Nighthawks were able to even the score in the 62nd minute when Kobe Barnes ripped a shot past Moore off of a beautiful feed along the end line from Josue Lopez.

Newbury then took the lead moments later when Rony Morales setup Exceus for the go ahead strike at 70:49.

Incredibly, Dean was able to knot the score in the 84th minute when Felipe Campos (Barnstable, Mass.) found the back of the net for the fourth time this season but Execus and Morales ended any hopes of overtime with their goal in the 88th minute.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Newbury held a slight 21-16 edge in shots, while the Bulldogs had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. Moore turned aside six shots in net for Dean and his counterpart, Samuel Quinones stopped nine in the Nighthawk victory.
