THE LEAD:
Host Dean College responded from its lone loss of the season on Saturday with a 3-1 win over Massachusetts Maritime Academy in non-league men's soccer action on Monday.

The win for the Bulldogs sends their home record to 6-1-1 on the season and honors their lone senior – Pepe Vieira (Brockton, Mass.) as he played his final game on Lippert Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Though it was an afternoon to celebrate all that Vieira has done in a Bulldog uniform, it was freshman Felipe Campos (Barnstable, Mass.) who stole the show, recording his second career hat trick and pushing his NECC-leading goal total to 17.

Campos wasted little time getting the Cardinal and White on the scoreboard as he rifled in his first of the afternoon less than three minutes into the contest.

The Buccaneers didn't shy away, however, as Brendon Gawron (Braintree, Mass.) connected with Andrew Wayrynen (Rockport, Mass.) for the game-tying goal at 20:14.

Campos put the Bulldogs back in front with his second tally of the afternoon in the 35th minute to make the score 2-1 heading into halftime.

The only goal in the second half came in the 70th minute when Campos completed the hat trick at 69:48 – his second three-goal outing in his last three contests.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dean held a 22-16 edge in shots and finished with a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Devin Moore (Walpole, Mass.), making the first start of his career in goal for the Bulldogs, finished with a career-best eight saves to secure his first career win.

Massachusetts Maritime netminder Connor Murphy (Mashpee, Mass.) ended with six stops as his record evens out at 1-1.

UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Worcester for a meeting with NECC rival Becker College. First touch of that contest is slated for 4:00 PM. Massachusetts Maritime, meanwhile, will wrap up its 2017 regular season with a Friday night home contest against Worcester State.
