THE LEAD:
Cristiano Martins
(Brockton, Mass.) scored two second half goals and host Dean College blew past Berkeley College of New Jersey, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon in non-league men's soccer action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Knights actually controlled the ball for a large part of first half but the Bulldogs broke through in the 36th minute. Pepe Vieira (Brockton, Mass.) was awarded a penalty kick but his attempt was turned aside by Berkeley netminder Robert Parker (Woodbridge, N.J.). Felipe Campos (Barnstable, Mass.), however, was there to pounce on the rebound and give Dean a 1-0 lead.

The game stayed that way until Martins blasted home his third of the year at 53:27 with help from Campos.

Almost exactly four minutes later, that duo was at it again as Martins found the back of the net off of another Campos feed in the 58th minute.

Dean added another less than two minutes later when Yuri Mascarenhas (Quincy, Mass.) registered his third goal of the year at 59:05.

Tyler Medeiros (Bristol, R.I.) then teamed up with Cody DaCruz (Somerset, Mass.) for DaCruz's first strike of the year at 81:59 to cap all the scoring.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dean held a 15-7 edge in shots on the afternoon, including a 10-4 advantage in the decisive final 45 minutes.

In addition to Martins' two goals, Campos ended with a goal and two assists. Nathan Silveira (East Providence, R.I.), meanwhile, made four saves to secure his fifth shutout of the season.

UP NEXT:
A busy week for the Bulldogs will continue with Wednesday's home non-league contest against Salve Regina. First touch in that matchup is slated for 4:00 p.m.
