THE LEAD:

Freshman Felipe Campos (Barnstable, Mass.) scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season and the Dean College Bulldogs stayed undefeated, beating NECC rival Newbury College 2-0 at Hellenic Field in Boston, Mass. on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Although Dean outshot Newbury 29-4 and held an 8-1 edge in corner kicks, the game was still scoreless after 85 minutes.  Campos' marker changed that, giving the Bulldogs the lead at 86:39.  The goal was assisted by Jr. Sam Fonseca (Fogo, Cape Verde).
  • Less than two minutes later, Pepe Vieira (Brockton, Mass.) gave the Bulldogs some breathing room.  He scored off a feed from fellow Brockton native, Cristiano Martins to give Dean the decisive 2-0 lead.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Nathan Silveira (East Providence, R.I.) got the win in goal for Dean, making three saves and registering his third shutout victory of the season.
  • The game featured six yellow cards in total, with four of them handed out to the Bulldogs.
  • Campos leads the squad with 12 total points (6 goals).  Vieira is second with three goals and four assists for 10 points.
