THE LEAD:

After an action packed first 90 minutes, neither team could find the back of the net in the final 20 and Dean College and UMass-Dartmouth settled for a 2-2 tie in non-league men's soccer action on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

It was the host Corsairs who cracked the scoring column first when Austin Dias buried his shot into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Dean got the equalizing goal in an unusual way as UMass-Dartmouth scored an own goal in the 39th minute to even the score at halftime.

The Corsairs wasted little time getting back on the board in the early moments of the second half when Dias deposited his team-leading third goal of the season.

Dean had the answer, however, as Pepe Vieira (Brockton, Mass.) converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute to even the score again.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

The scoresheet was relatively even, with the Bulldogs holding a 23-19 edge in shots, while the Corsairs has the edge in corner kicks.

UP NEXT:

Dean is back in action on Saturday when they visit Newbury College and then host Berkeley College on Sunday.
