THE LEAD:
Rivier University erupted for 15 second half goals and the host Raiders sprinted past Dean College, 24-10, in non-league men's lacrosse action on Wednesday evening.

The Raiders got huge performances from Eric Guinasso (four goals, one assist), Nick Ackerman (four goals, four assists), Dylan McSparren (two goals, three assists) and Chris Pennie (three goals, four assists) to keep Rivier undefeated.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Dean actually had an early 4-2 lead following two goals each from Anthony Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.) and Brody Fredericks (Weare, N.H.). But the Raiders rallied and ended the high-scoring first quarter in front, 6-5 by scoring the final three goals of the period.

Things continued in the Raiders favor as they put three goals into the back of the net in the second frame before the Bulldogs finally woke up and scored three goals in the final 2:26 of the period – including man-up strikes from Juniel Jordan (Kingston, Mass.) and Louis Piccolo (Foxboro, Mass.) that inched Dean to within one at 9-8, at halftime.

Rivier held the Bulldogs to single goals in the third and fourth quarters from Trasacco as they exploded for seven in the third and eight more in the fourth as eight of the 15 were scored with the man advantage.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
The Raiders held a monstrous 53-38 edge in shots and were extremely effective in man-up scenarios, going an impressive 8-for-14.

Trasacco led the Bulldogs with four goals, two assists and six groundballs, while Fredericks ended with two goals and five assists. Piccolo, meanwhile, added two goals and an assist.
