Marshfield, Mass. – Defending New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) champions, Dean College, was picked second in the league's preseason coaches' poll it was announced on Tuesday morning by the conference office.
The Bulldogs collected 12 overall points – four points behind league newcomer New England College, who garnered all four first-place votes to end with 16 points.
Becker College, who squared off with the Bulldogs in last year's championship game finished third with seven points and Mitchell College rounded out the poll with five total points.
Dean returns a wealth of experience from a squad that went 10-4 overall, including 8-2 at home and won six of their final seven games.
Back in the fold for the Bulldogs is the league's leading goal scorer in Anthony Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.), who racked up 45 markers in earning all-league honors a season ago. He is joined by arguably the league's best playmaker in Brody Fredericks (Weare, N.H.). As a junior in 2018, Fredericks led the conference in both assists (35) and overall points (68).
Along with those two offensive stars, Dean also returns defensive stalwarts like Tim Orozco (Milford, Conn.), who started all 14 games a season ago. They will get a boost from the return of Westley Reel (Lakeville, Conn.) – a veteran defender who has started all 30 games of his career but missed a large portion of last season due to injury.
Dean opens defense of its championship on Friday, March 1 with a home contest against Johnson State. Faceoff is slated for 3:30 PM.
