THE LEAD:
The Bulldog backcourt of Jordan Booker (Waterbury, Conn) and Dayvon Russell (Naugatuck, Conn.) played all forty minutes, finishing with 30 and 21 points respectively in Dean's 79-69 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) win over Eastern Nazarene on Thursday in Quincy, Mass. The blazing-hot Bulldogs have now won seven straight games stretching back to December 6th.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The two teams traded barbs for the first ten minutes of the contest, with neither team holding a lead larger than three until the hosts broke through with a run at the midway point of the period and sped to an 18-11 lead.  Dean responded with a bucket from Booker followed by a layup and two free throws frrom Russell to cut the lead to 20-19.

The Lions bounced back to regain control, extending their lead to 25-19 with back to back hoops before Dean took control of the game. A layup from Armani Baker (Pawtucket, R.I.) followed by a jumper from Russell and a lay-in and triple from Booker gave Dean a 30-25 lead with a minute remaining.  One free throw from Eastern Nazarene before the halftime buzzer resulted in the 30-26 halftime score.

A putback layup from Baker at the 13 minute mark of the second half gave Dean a ten point lead but the Lions continued to battle, cutting the lead down to four two minutes later after connecting on two threes.

Off a turnover, Russell connected on a three pointer, assisted by Sean Odum ( Rowlette, Texas) to extend the Bulldogs lead back to double digits with ten minutes to go in the game.  Four minutes later, Russell converted an and-one layup and followed with a jumper to swell the advantage to 14.

Dean stretched its lead to as many as 15 down the stretch and held on for a decisive ten point victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
The Bulldog backcourt continued to wreak havoc on the opposition, with Booker and Russell accounting for 51 points on 21-32 shooting.  Baker finished with his fifth straight double-double, scoring 18 points and collecting 17 rebounds.  Odum played 36 minutes and scored six points while adding five rebounds and three steals.

The Lions were led by Ricky Shearman's 18 points on 7-8 shooting from the field. Garrett Crandell added 13 off the bench.
