Football Picked Second In ECFC Preseason Coaches' Poll

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Dean College has been picked to finish second in the 2019 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) preseason poll as announced on Tuesday morning by ECFC Executive Director Katie Boldvich.

The poll, which uses votes from all six of the conference's head coaches, saw SUNY-Maritime receive five first-place votes to earn the top spot with 35 points. Dean followed the Privateers with 31 points and the league's other first-place vote.

Castleton University took the third spot, receiving 18 points, while both Anna Maria and Gallaudet University each had 15 points and Alfred State rounded out the six team poll with 12 points.

The Bulldogs are coming off of a 5-5 season where they went 4-2 in conference play, finished with three straight wins and went 4-1 at home.

They return a host of key contributors from last season's team, including all-conference performers in ball-hawking linebacker Gene Baisden (Tampa, Fla.), big play wide receiver Errol Breaux (Marietta, Ga.), hard-hitting safety Nicholaus Grimaldi (Valrico, Fla.), shutdown cornerback Shannon Moxey (Marietta, Ga.), all-purpose star Quintus Reid (New Haven, Conn.) and reigning Rookie of the Year, Terrell Watts (New Haven, Conn.).

Dean opens its 2019 season under the lights on Friday, September 6 against Nichols College.
