Franklin, Mass. – Highlighted by six home games, head football coach Steve Tirrell announced the 2019 Dean College football schedule on Friday.
The nine game slate features contests in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. and five games at the friendly confines of Dale Lippert Field.
For the second straight season, the Bulldogs will open their year under the lights. Dean will host Nichols College in a non-league showdown on Friday, September 6 at Franklin High with a 7:00 PM kickoff. In 2018, Dean went on the road and fell 44-41 in a wild shootout at Curry College. The Bulldogs and Bison, meanwhile, last played in 2017 when Dean went to Dudley and took down the Bison in a defensive battle, 10-3.
A road trip to Western Connecticut State for an early evening kickoff follows on Saturday, September 14 and then Dean plays host to Salve Regina (Saturday, September 21) and then Kean University on Homecoming weekend (Saturday, September 28) as the first month of the season comes to a close.
The bye week (October 5) is followed the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) opener against SUNY-Maritime and then consecutive conference road contests are on the docket against Anna Maria (Saturday, October 19) and then to Washington, D.C. to face Gallaudet University – teams the Bulldogs defeated a season ago.
Dean then closes out the regular season with home contests against both Alfred State (Saturday, November 2) and Castleton University (Saturday, November 9).
After a 5-5 season in 2018, the Bulldogs return a host of playmakers on both sides of the ball led by captains Gene Baisden (Tampa, Fla.), Errol Breaux (Marietta, Ga.), Julian Burris (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Shannon Moxey (Austell, Ga.).
