Dean College linebacker Ricco Aaron (Douglasville, Ga.) capped a tremendous sophomore season with a selection to the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) All-Academic team. The ECFC announced the 53 representatives on Tuesday.
Student-athletes were recognized from all eight ECFC institutions. Castleton University led the way with13 honorees, followed closely by Husson University with 12. To be eligible for the ECFC All-Academic team a student-athlete must have earned a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.3 or higher in the 2017 fall semester while being a sophomore in standing with two years of participation on the football team.
Aaron's All-Acadmeic team award was one of many he earned this season. In addition to being named 2017 ECFC Defensive Player of the Year, Aaron also earned New England Football Writers Division II/III All Star, All USCAA team honors, and a Cliff Harris National Small College Defensive Player of the year nomination.
Aaron finished the year with 100 total tackles, 55 solo. He had three sacks and 14 tackles for loss while forcing one fumble and recovering another. He also added a blocked kick.
