THE LEAD:
Matt Callahan (Attleboro, Mass.) had three hits and drove in five runs as Dean College powered their way past host Massachusetts Maritime, 7-3, in non-league baseball action on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Callahan wasted little time getting the visitors on the board as he put the Bulldogs in front, 2-0, courtesy of a two-run single that scored both Brian Hadden (Newburyport, Mass.) and Landon Fish (New Port Richey, Fla.).

After the Buccaneers sliced the Dean edge in half with a single run in the second, Callahan and the Bulldogs were back at it again when he smacked a two-run double to left center, chasing home Rolando Marcano (Bridgeport, Conn.) and Andrew Dirito (Plymouth, Mass.) in the top of the third.

With the score 4-2 in the top of the fifth, RBI doubles from Callahan and Ryan Gallagher (Methuen, Mass.) gave the Bulldogs a 6-2 edge and the Marcano pushed another run across in the sixth with an RBI single to left.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Alex Belanger
(Southbridge, Mass.) went the first four innings on the mound for the Cardinal and White, allowing just two hits and two earned runs to earn his third win of the season.

Dean also got stellar mound performances from all three of their relievers - Colton Fitzsimmons (Fairhaven, Mass.), Gio Filipone (Darien, Conn.) and Austin Crowley (Holyoke, Mass.) – as they combined with Belanger to allow just four hits on the afternoon.

UP NEXT:
These two teams will play again on Wednesday in Franklin. First pitch is slated for 3:30 PM.
