Phillip Antonucci IV
(Revere, Mass.) scored the game-winning run on an error in the bottom of the eighth inning and host Anna Maria knocked off Dean College, 4-3, in non-league baseball action on Thursday afternoon.

Dean actually took an early lead when Jeff Sharnick (Stratford, Conn.) singled in the top of the first, scoring Brian Hadden (Newburyport, Mass.) who got on base with a two-out single of his own.

The Bulldogs doubled their lead when Will Kulcher (Crown Point, Ind.) blasted his first collegiate homerun in the top of the third.

Back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the frame from Adam Twitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Jason Shell (Sandwich, Mass.) sliced Dean's lead in half and then the AMCATS went in front when Justin Robbins (Leominster, Mass.) launched a two-run homerun, making the score, 3-2.

The Bulldogs eventually evened the score in the fifth when Matt Callahan (Attleboro, Mass.) singled and then moved on the second on a Vincent Buonaiuto (Danbury, Conn.) sacrifice. Travis Dinsdale (Worcester, Mass.) smacked a single to center, chasing Callahan home with the game-tying run.

Antonucci IV opened the bottom of the eighth with a walk and went to third on consecutive groundouts and then Greg Gehring (Southold, N.Y.) hit a ball to third and Antonucci IV was able to scamper home, giving Anna Maria the 4-3 advantage.

The AMCATS were limited to just six hits on the afternoon with Twitchell and Shell collecting two each. For the Bulldogs, Kulcher delivered three hits, Callahan had two as well and Dinsdale added two hits and two RBI.

Dean is off until Sunday when they visit Massachusetts Maritime, while Anna Maria host Eastern Nazarene in a twinbill on Saturday.
