THE LEAD:
Ryan Shawley drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the ninth to break an 11-11 tie and send Chatham University to a 12-11 win over Dean College in non-league baseball action on Thursday evening at the Cal Ripken Experience.

The game-winning RBI for Shawley was his third of the game and he also scored two runs – all without collecting a hit on the afternoon.

Dean trailed for most of the contest before rallying to take the lead on a two-run homerun from Travis Dinsdale (Worcester, Mass.) in the bottom of the eighth.

Prior to Dinsdale's huge blast, the Bulldogs were down 10-4 heading into the eighth. Dean started their seven-run rally with a Dakari Cox (Needham, Mass.) RBI double and an RBI triple from Ben Chajet (Hillsboro Beach, Fla.).

Next, RBI singles from Matt Callahan (Attleboro, Mass.) and Jeff Sharnick (Stratford, Conn.) and an RBI groundout from Corey Karnila (Raritan, N.J.) set the stage for Dinsdale's heroics.

The Cougars tied the game and then scored the game-winning run with two outs in the ninth. Paul Nussbaum stroked a one-out double and then with two outs, Brett Vallorani singled to right, scoring Nussbaum.

After Vallorani advanced to second, a walk and an error loaded the bases and Shawley provided the watchful eye that led to the bases-loaded walk.

Dean did get the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth when Cox singled and moved to second with two outs but Austin Ferris was able to get the final out and secure the win for the Cougars.

Cox was an impressive 4-for-5 with two RBI, while Dinsdale and Callahan each had two hits.
