THE LEAD:
Penn State-Berks took advantage of some Dean College miscues and scored 35 runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Bulldogs at the Cal Ripken Experience on Wednesday afternoon.

Dean committed a combined nine errors in the doubleheader, including seven in the opener as PSU-Berks collected 30 hits on the afternoon.

Game 1: Penn State University-Berks 18, Dean College 2
Berks' Toby Welk went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI to lead the offensive attack for the Beavers.

PSU-Berks scored five runs in the first two innings – four of the runs were unearned, but Dean battled back getting two runs of their own in the fourth on a Dakari Cox (Needham, Mass.) RBI single and a Jeff Sharnick (Stratford, Conn.) sacrifice fly.

Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, that would be all the offense they could muster as Welk got those two runs right back with a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth as part of a stretch where Berks scored 13 runs over three innings.

Cox had two of Dean's four hits while Will Kulcher (Crown Point, Ind.) and Brian Hadden (Newburyport, Mass.) had the others.

Game 2: Penn State University-Berks 17, Dean College 8
PSU-Berks scored ten runs over the final two innings to take the backend of a twinbill with Dean, sweeping the two-game set.

Down 2-0 after the top of the first, the Bulldogs scored five runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by a two-run single from Cox and a two-run double from Landon Fish (New Port Richey, Fla.).

The Beavers battled back and took a 10-6 advantage in the sixth that was sliced in half when Brian Hadden (Newburyport, Mass.) smacked a two-run single to center.

That would be as close as the Bulldogs would get, however, as Berks scored six more in the seventh highlighted by a two-run triple from Seth Endy.

Fish and Travis Dinsdale (Worcester, Mass.) both had two hits, while Fish (2), Cox (2) and Hadden (3) all had multiple RBI contests.
