Baseball Outdone By Guilford

GREENSBORO, NC.- Monday was a long day for Dean College Bulldogs Baseball, as they fell to Guilford College 8-3.

Dean College Bulldogs Baseball took an early lead in the first inning.  Conor Callery singled on a 0-1 count in the first inning, scoring one run.

Guilford College took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth there was an error, scoring one run, Josh Shepherd singled off of Jason Bottone, driving in one run, Ryan Hill singled off of Bottone, driving in one run, and Trevor Denton singled off of Bottone, driving in one run.

Caleb Gaster earned the win for Guilford College. He tossed two innings, giving up one run, five hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Seven relievers helped Guilford College close out the victory. Denton threw one inning.  Bottone took the loss for Dean College Bulldogs Baseball. He pitched three and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs, eight hits, and walking one. Christian Ponce finished the game with two scoreless innings in his first collegiate pitching appearance.

Dean College Bulldogs Baseball had ten hits in the game.  Aldo Ripley and Timothy Lombardi each collected multiple hits for Dean College Bulldogs Baseball.  Ripley also hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth for his first collegiate home run.

Guilford College collected 12 hits.  Shepherd, Logan Washle, and Austin Wilson each collected multiple hits for Guilford College.  Shepherd led Guilford College with three hits in five at bats.
