This Week In Dean Athletics (September 11-17)

WHAT YOU MISSED:

  • Men's Soccer: The Bulldogs continued their strong play with a 1-0 win over regional foe Clark University. Felipe Campos (Brockton, Mass.) scored his third goal in his last three games and Nathan Silveira (East Providence, R.I.) made six saves enroute to his second shutout of the season. The Bulldogs are now 3-0 on the young season and outscoring their opponents 7-1.
  • Women's Soccer: After a midweek rainout against Rhode Island College, women's soccer dropped a tight contest against Southern Maine on Saturday at Longley Field. Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.) made 12 saves for the Bulldogs in goal. McKenna Gill (Binghamton, N.Y.) led the squad with four shots (1 on goal).
  • Women's Volleyball: Women's volleyball split a weekend doubleheader for the second straight week. The Bulldogs fell in the opener to Smith College 3-0, but rebounded for a 3-0 victory over Johnson State. In the victory over Johnson State, Kaitlyn Anderson (Clinton, Conn.) led the way with seven kills and three digs. Aminah Tsonga (Plainville, Conn.) had 4 kills and eight assists to pace the side as a setter and Melanie Rios-Nevarez (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) had 11 service aces to go with two kills and five assists.
  • Football: The Bulldogs home opener was spoiled by a strong Husson University team. Dean dropped the contest 44-12 on Saturday at Longley Field.  Things started out extremely well for the host Bulldogs as they marched 74 yards in ten plays on the opening drive and punched in a touchdown on a fourth down toss from Rafe Moran (Fayetteville, N.C.) to Dequan Brown (Newark, N.J.) from 28 yards out just 4:19 into the contest.  From that point on, however, it was all Husson as they scored the game's next 42 points - on six rushing touchdowns. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-1 on the season.
